independant learner

Being an independent learner, I need to spend time learning words that I don't know. For example, today I learnt the words: ridiculous, whitegoods, pre-loved, and damn. I also need to listen to simple conversations as much as I can. Listening to radio can sometimes be frustrating but it helps improve speaking intonation. Writing blog messages can be very helpful in recording my learning journey.

Two Discussion Topics

Penalty Rates
Most jobs have penalty rates where workers are paid more if they work nights, weekend shifts or on pubic holidays. Many employers would like to see penalty rates removed. Should the government allow the removal of penalty rates? Discuss.
School uniforms
Many schools require students to wear a uniform but some schools do not require this.
Should school uniformsbe compulsory? Discuss.

We have a lot of rain in Sydney this week.  I found it a bit down because of the wet weather and something happened.

I find it really hard to meet new friends and to share live with them. Apart from working every day, I don't have time to make or meet friends. I believe socialising is important for a young person like me. I think I need to spend more time with friends.

Please write something to comment on my blog.

A Movie I like - The Next Three Days

Dear All ,

I hope you're all good . Today I want to  share with you an interesting movie  called The next three days.
When I saw this movie it inspired me a lot so I decided to tell you about the movie.

The next three days is a vigilante thriller film written and directed by Paul Haggis and starring Russell Crowe and Elizabeth Banks. It was released in the United States on November 19,2010, and was filmed on location in Pittsburgh.

Lara Brennan is arrested for murdering her boss with whom she had an argument. It seems she was seen leaving the scene of the crime and her fingerprints were on the murder weapon and fire extinguisher;blood stain in her coat;and a witness that saw her leaving the parking lot-and her lawyer exhausted all the possible resources in justice.

Her husband, John believes in the innocence of his wife and interviews a former escapee from prison to learn how to plan a prison break.John would spend the next few years trying to get her released, but there's no evidence that negates the evidence against her. And when the strain of being separated from her family, especially her son, gets to her, John decided to break her out. So he does a lot of research to find a way. He consults a successful escape artist turned author and he started planning: he'll need to disrupt jail routine, get IDs and passports, know how to evade a dragnet, find a destination, and squirrel away cash. Then, he gets word that Lara will be transferred to prison within the next three days. He's out of time, and the cops are no dummies. How can he do the impossible? It's very interesting.

A nice weekend

It is a nice weekend today. after 5 days of hard working, I can stay home relaxed. When I look out of my window, it is a bit cloudy. But I'm very happy having my English lesson, learning to build my blog and to post new messages.
I feel very relaxed because yesterday I went to the gym for exercise. I had a very good sleep last night so I'm full of energy. I feel fresh to read and study.

Hi everyone, my name is Farhad Minaei, I came from Iran and I have been in Sydney for four years. I'm very happy living here. I'm here with my family: my mom, dad, sister and brother. Everyone seems to be very happy enjoying the new life here. Our lives are so good and I thank GOD for every peaceful second that we have in Australia. I'm single now and after I get a better financial condition I will look for my love one here.

I am a cabinet maker working in a factory, and I can also do the assembly work. I enjoy doing things with my hands. I was not an academic type of person but now I really enjoy reading and learning English. I believe that I can get a better job and enjoy more of my life in Australia if my English is better. I started the job because I had some carpentry work experience in my country. I'm looking forward to gaining better work opportunity and financial conditions.

In my spare time I always go to the gym. I feel relaxed doing exercise after a whole day of work. The exercise helps me renew my mind, soul, and body. It is a means to release endorphin, the chemical that makes us feel happier. I googled the term, and found that “endorphin interact with the receptors in our brain that reduce our perception of pain. Endorphin also triggers a positive feeling in the mind.”  My experience proves that it is true.  Every time after I finish my exercise, my feeling of tiredness is gone my thoughts becomes more positive, and I know that I can strive my best to achieve more in my life.

I also feel exercise helps me strengthen my muscles. I become stronger and healthier.  It also helps me sleep better. I hate gaining too much weight, so exercise helps reduce my weight. I would really recommend everyone in the DL program will do some sort of exercise, it can surely be beneficial to us.

I must learn more things for better life in Australia and as soon as I can. I am really glad with the DL study and I appreciate the help I get from my teacher. I am positive towards life. I know I have a lot of potential that I need to develop for a better in the future.
